Anna to Ana

Fig.1
I could be in love with Ana Ivanovic. Maybe this is not the place to express such feelings, but the disappointment i felt when the #1 seed was unceremoniously dumped out of Wimbledon last year by unseeded wild-card Zheng Jie was apparant, and i’m the same again this year.
So much to my delight (thanks to the BBC Red Button), i could watch my second favourite Serb* scramble through her 1st round match today 5-7 6-2 8-6. It was the thought of not watching her again this fortnight that spurred on my support, rather than groaning at her errant ball-tossing and frustratingly inconsistant forehand – probably the white tennis dress, sexy fist pumps and high platted ponytail didn’t go a-miss either.
However, the Wimbledon 13th seed has been inconsistant over the past 12 months. Her record since her breakthrough Grand Slam victory at Roland Garros in 2008 was coupled with the 3rd round loss at the All England Club and a solitary tour title in October. The Serbian stunner admitted she lost focus after the French Open victory and subsequent World #1 ranking - now her confidence has seemed to desert her too. Could she be going the way of former star (and still a current hottie) Anna Kournikova, with those at FHM knocking for lovely bikini shots as demonstrated in Fig.1? (Thanks guys) Or does Ivanovic have the game and character to balance life between Centre Court and Centre Fold?
There is no doubt she is a better player than Kournikova – the Muscovite not winning a single WTA Tour singles’ title (yes, i’m aware of her strong doubles record) - but the lure of fame, photoshoots and Enrique Iglesias music videos reduced the amount of time spent on the practise courts and focus on tournaments. Her persistant injuries certainly didn’t help and early retirement in 2003 signalled the onset of a life of exhibition matches…
That last paragraph is probably a case for an Anna photo:

I for one hope that Ivanovic turns around her indifferent form - keeps her physical form – and proves that beauty and glamour can live at the top of the Women’s game.
Anyway, she’s too tall for me.
Let the steady flow of trophies, novelty-sized cheques and bikini photoshoots continue…
*my favourite Serb is Nemanja Vidic

Absolute pervert. Who’s your no. 1 favourite Serb?
My #1 Serb is Nemanja Vidic. That was the point of the asterisk in the text – i did add it at the bottom in draft but must have deleted it during an edit….whoopsie daisy.
Ana and Anna are both very nice tennisplayers

i understand your point but people are gonna do what they think is best or what appeals to them the most and in anna k’s case, i guess she wanted to pursue other things besides tennis. i sincerely hope she doesn’t have any regrets, tho. i’m personally amazed that people appear disappointed in her not having a better tennis record. sure, it’d be nice but she was better than 90% of all the women in the world so i don’t think there’s much to cry about. i personally think she looked best when she didn’t pour on the make up; just a personal preference. she’s damn hot and i just hope she’s happy. screw the world and do what you wanna do. that’s my advice to myself and to my daughter. cool website, by the way. keep up the great work!
