Premiership prediction update
Hello, happy new year! Just a short comment now we’re halfway through the Premiership season and how it’s all unfolding comparing back to the predictions made on 13th August.
Well, currently #1 and #2 positions are correctly filled with the predicted occupants. Drogba is indeed happy this season and has resulted in a return of 14 goals to date and tied for the Golden Boot alongside Jermaine Defoe and Wayne Rooney, who was tipped for a “big season” – certainly the case so far.
Unfortunately, Dimitar Berbatov has not increased the frequency of his flashes of brilliance. In fact, they are becoming as rare as the Wimbledon shiny in the 1993/94 Panini sticker album.
Injuries were touted as a weakness in Man United’s defence, but no one could have predicted Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher filling the void on more than one occasion. This injury crisis co-inciding with consectutive league defeats – about as rare as…(see above similie).
The things that aren’t quite living up to the predictions is the strong form of Arsenal up to this point and the perennial downturn of Liverpool FC, currently a solitary point ahead of ‘form-of-their-history’ Birmingham City.
So, to the next 18/19 matches…
Top 4: Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, “not Liverpool”.
Bottom 3: Portsmouth, Hull, Wolves.
